5 Herbal Baths In 5 Days ~ Self Care Challenge
/I can’t decide if it is my Cancer Moon or something else that drives me to this craziness… It’s just that sometimes I feel like I could live in the bathtub. All it takes is a good book and some warm, salty, herbaceous water to make me feel right at home. It is so relaxing and restorative.
Recently I had the rare and very blessed chance to take some extra time for myself. So I decided that I would challenge myself to take one decadent bath everyday for a week. It is a challenge because it really can be hard to slow down and take care of myself. To give myself the permission to stop for a bit and take care of me. Can anyone else relate?

Day One ~
For this first day of bathing I used one of my favorite blends of essential oils plus a big helping of epsom and mineral salts.
4 drops of lavender
3 drops of ylang ylang
2 drops of cardamom
1 drop of lime
So luscious, the scent is euphoric and deep at the same time. I just got in that tub and breathed and relaxed. It was amazing!
Day Two~
Lavender Rose Sock Bath
1 big handful each of dried roses and lavender blossoms
a long, clean sock
Sock baths are simple and wonderful yet sometimes I am in such a hurry, I forget about them and default to using my old standby of essential oils and salts. I placed the flowers in my sock and tied the top shut. Then tossed the sock in the bath and filled the bath with the hottest water from my tap and waited for it to cool down to bathing temperature. This gave the herbs time to steep right in my tub and made a lovely flowery bath. While it steeped I even got some work down around the house!
Day Three ~
Rosemary Lavender Salt Bath
5 drops each of rosemary and lavender essential oil
big handful of epsom salt
Today’s bath had to be fast. Busy, busy day and I almost didn’t get my bath. What is better on a busy day than rosemary and lavender? The oils together are refreshing, stimulating and yet grounding.
Day Four ~
Chamomile Milk Bath
1 quart of milk, please support healthy farming practices that treat animals humanely when choosing your milk
½ cup of chamomile flowers
4 drops of rose geranium essential oil
Have you ever taken a milk bath? The bath water in unbelievably silky and smooth. This bath is a real treat indeed. To make I simply steeped the chamomile in the milk while warming very gently on the stove for about a half hour and then strained the milk into my tub. Finally I added the oils, and wow!
Day Five ~
Moon Time Sock Bath
1 big handful each of dried lemon balm and rosemary leaf
6 drops of clary sage essential oil
2 big handfuls of epsom salts
For my last bath I wanted a little help with my up and coming moon time so I made this bath which helps to relax the body and nerves during the transition into menstruation. (see Day 2 above for instructions on making your own sock bath.)
